Yesterday, I really wanted to get my hands dirty and build a small wall in my backyard. I did some research and found out that bricks and cement were not that expensive. I mean, you can get like a thousand bricks for around 340 to 850 bucks, which is not bad at all.
So, I went on to Home Depot to check the prices. They have this cool thing where you can buy stuff online and pick it up at the store. And some of the bricks even had free same-day delivery! I decided to go to the store directly cause I couldn’t wait.

- First thing I did was grab a cart and head over to the building materials section.
- Man, there were so many types of bricks! I picked out the ones that looked good and were within my budget.
- Next, I needed cement.
I asked one of the guys there how much cement I would need for, let’s say, 1000 bricks. He told me I would need around 120 kg of cement and about 0.4 cubic meters of sand to make a good mix. That sounded like a lot, but hey, I was determined.
I loaded up my cart with the bricks, cement, and sand. It was a bit of a workout, but I managed. Paid for everything and loaded them into my truck. It was a bit heavy, but my old truck could handle it. Got home, unloaded everything, and started mixing the cement and sand. It was quite a job, but very satisfying.
Laying the bricks was the fun part!
I started laying the bricks one by one, making sure they were level and straight. It took a while, but seeing the wall come together was worth it. By the end of the day, I had a pretty neat little wall. It’s not perfect, but I built it myself, and that’s what counts.
So yeah, that’s how I spent my day. Buying bricks and cement, and building a wall. It was a good day.
